5th Technical Meeting - online

On November 26, 2021 the 5^th technical meeting of the SAVEMEDCOASTS-2 project, was held in remote mode.

During the plenary session, each Work Package (WP) Leader shortly summarized and updated the Consortium about the progress made. The main gaps, issues, and needs have been identified and addressed in the next implementation period. The resulting key issues have been then discussed at the end of the presentations from the individual partners. Five small dedicated meetings will be specifically organized in December 2021-January 2022 to optimize project activities.

By the end of the project, the Consortium will consider to propose or join potential initiatives at EU and national scale dimensions for a continuation of activities with Participating States and other eligible countries for a future capitalization of the SAVEMECOASTS-2’s results.

All partners agreed that the ongoing effects of sea level rise are relevant topics for the prevention and preparedness plans of the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG-ECHO) within the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) framework. In addition, the assessment of the expected scenario need a proper communication. Information and the outcomes of the meeting will be applied in the next implementation period.
